Hi, I’m Max. I used to be a creative director who dreamt of becoming a director-director. So after ten years at ad agencies in Berlin and New York—like Jung von Matt, Mother, and BBDO—I finally annoyed enough people into letting me direct one. I had no idea what I was doing, but it went viral and somehow ended up winning a Cannes Lion. So pretty soon after, I did the sensible thing and quit my agency job.
Since then, I’ve been living the dream, fathered a couple of kids, and lost my fair share of soul-crushing pitches. Luckily, I also landed a few gigs for brands like The North Face, Netflix, and Haribo—and picked up a few more awards, which now decorate the upstairs toilet at my mum’s. She’s very proud but still doesn’t exactly know what I do for a living.
